Aug 9: What did I do this week?

Song of the week: Dirty Three - Great Waves

Started doing this again

Hi! I had to deprioritize these posts because I didn't have enough energy to do everything I was doing, but now I think I'm good again. First I didn't realize that my work schedule was draining me too much, and then it got really hot, and then I got sick... Oh well. You haven't missed too much. The following is really from the last two or three weeks, and I've also been reading books and doing other things that I've forgotten about, but I want to actually get this post out, so whatever.

Got a new laptop

Well, used, which is how it was affordable, but it's new to me. For my purposes, it's pretty nice! It's a Lenovo G50-80 with 8 GB of RAM, a 112 GB SSD, and an i3-5005U CPU. It can handle web browsing, Discord, Aseprite, PICO-8, a terminal text editor, 1080p video in mpv, and even YouTube videos and, just barely, Twitch streams, which is everything I'm interested in doing with a laptop. I also put some cool stickers on it.

Had a personal style vision

I want to have long hair again and to be wearing loose and flowy clothes, hair ornaments, and dangly earrings. When it's too cold for that, baggy black sweatpants and hoodies with prints like this, and simple small earrings and no hair ornaments. In this way, I will always look cool but have variety in how I look cool, and I'll get to be both a burnout slacker and a pretty princess, which are two wolves I have inside of me. I miss having impractically long hair, and now in the last few months I've actually been taking regular care of it, so it's going to look better than before.

Played a bunch of Path of Exile 2

It's pretty good! Probably my favorite diablolike - I definitely think it's just a better game than Last Epoch. It has surprisingly nice-looking environments if you stop and zoom in and look, which of course you typically never do.

Wellness Ping notifies people if you don't respond to automatic check-ins. I think I'm probably no longer at an elevated risk of suddenly disappearing, but it seems like a good thing to know about.

Beat Sonic Mania

One of the games that I started playing and enjoyed until my energy level got worse again and I ended up abandoning it for a long time. But I finally got back to it and had a lot of fun. Platforming feels good, it looks and sounds great, and the levels are all constantly giving you glimpses of other paths you could take on other playthroughs, which I might actually do one of. I would recommend Sonic Mania if you want a modern classic platformer.
